Everything Has It's Way

I really do adore Katie Costello's music. I think The City In Me is my favourite EP from her.
She recently released a new EP which I haven't purchased yet, but it's probably brilliant so you should go and listen to it. It's called "Follow Your Every Beat" and everything I've heard from it so far has been quality. The song in the video above, Everything Has It's Way, is from the new EP.

I recently went on a nice wee trip to Newcastle with some people from uni. It was only for 3 days but it was lovely to get away and not have to even think about work or other issues back home. We met super early so that none of us would be late and miss the train, so we were pretty tired by late afternoon. The girls and I were lame and sat in out pyjamas and watched Countdown and Deal or No Deal drinking tea and didn't go out on the first night unlike the guys. We spent the entire next day in the Metrocentre, which is enormous by the way, before going out to some bars and clubs at night. On our final day, we went to the science centre and spent as long as possibly in there before having to head back to the train station to go home. It was a nice few days and I really hope we do it again. Either back to Newcastle or elsewhere. :) You can see a few pictures from the trip on my 365 project here.

I've been in such a cleaning mood today. I've changed my bedsheets, hoovered, done some washing and hung up and took down clothes from the clothes horses. My desk and chest of drawers are even being cleared! Next, it's the wardrobe. What a mess. Throw some stuff out hopefully.

Sorry I've been a bit crap with blogging recently. I should hopefully be posting more recently now.

Mince and tatties for dinner tonight. Yum!

Oh! I'm running Race for Life in a couple of weeks and I'd greatly appreciate it if you could sponsor me, even the smallest amount. Thank you!

Race for Life!

I got this after completing the 5K event at Holyrood Park, Edinburgh.

I look tiny next to Caron and Kirstie.

"Look depressed!"

"Speak whale! I've perfected the noise."

Struggling to pin Kirstie's number to her onesie.

Updating twitter!

My mum, Caron, me, Kirstie and Shannon.

Shannon, Jayne and Kirstie.

My back sign.

The warm up was one of my favourite parts. Hilarious. I love the girl in front's hair.

We stood out just a little bit.

So that's another one of my 43 Things completed! Complete Race for Life (5K).
Let's attempt the 10K next time, hopefully in Glasgow. As fun as it was travelling to Edinburgh and back, it was exhausting and everyone was too tired on the way home. I slept from about 6pm to 1pm then got my pjz then went back to sleep until 6.30am this morning. I'm still tired haha. 5K isn't even that far! We got like a million pictures of us taken because we stood out too.

I totally recommend that you take part in a future Race for Life event. Totally fun and for a great cause. :)

Wake Me Up

One of my 43 Things, was to raise £100 for a charity, which I've managed to do for Cancer Research UK by taking part in Race for Life. Brilliant. You can still sponsor me here, even though I've reached my target. Every little helps. :) Yeah, I had a target of £75 and not £100, but I honestly didn't think I'd get more than £10. So, thank you if you donated. <3 For an example of how Cancer Research UK has helped a member of my family, click here.

I've just finished working 9 days in a row doing a variety of jobs in the home. Last night when working a back shift in care, one resident said to me, "Cara, what even is your job?" and another said "You seem to be doing everything." haha. So true. Jack of all trades I am. So glad to be off tomorrow. No long lies for me though, up early to get a train to Edinburgh for Race for Life. Then back at work for three days working earlies in care.

Rachel, Kirstie and I planned to go out on Thursday night to the abc and since I'd been working constantly, I was quite looking forward to a fun wee night out. Whilst planning on going out, I found out a bunch of folk I knew were also going so it'd be more fun than just the three of us. We queued in the cold for just over half an hour and finally got to the front where Kirstie and Rachel put their heels on and we all took out our ID. But, in the process of taking out our ID, Kirstie discovered she had no purse and with no purse, there is no ID. No abc for us. We went to McDonald's and then a wee drive up Glennifer Braes and watched some cars in the distance and some planes landing. It looks so pretty. While in the car, we blasted some Disney songs, which was fun but still not as fun as a wee catch up with some folk in the abc. Aw well, shit happens. We'll just have to check before we leave from now on that everyone has ID, haha.

On Friday at work, it was Frank's birthday. He's just in the home for respite. He's lovely but he wasn't feeling too well so didn't come down to the dining room at lunch or dinner. Annette, the cook, baked a wonderful cake for him, his family and the residents so at dinner time, Kim, Mandy and myself went up to his room to sing happy birthday. Just as we were about to head up the stairs, the doorbell rang and many members of Frank's family had arrived to see him and were witnesses to our awful singing. But everyone, including the rest of the residents, all got a piece of cake after dinner and Frank was well happy.  I love moments like that at work. :)

I'm going shopping on Thursday with Laura-Ann for stuff for T in the Park. Excited! :D

Post

 1.

 2.

3.

1. I got my Kings of Leon tickets in the post the other day. Excited!
2. I also got this "good luck" card from Cancer Research UK and my "donation station" bag, which I have a nice pile of clothes to put in too.
3. The dreaded exam results. I was so disappointed and gutted that I failed two of my exams. I'd studied so hard! Clearly not hard enough though. They weren't even drastic fails, only a few per cent. I found out that loads of others failed too, so that made me feel a bit better knowing that I wasn't the only one. Properly sucks. Resits are during the same time which my parents took off work for the summer so they are trying to re-arrange their holidays. I really hope one of my resits isn't the 12th of August since I plan to be in London that day.
4. I re-discovered my 43 Things page, thanks to Julie. Yeah, it may only have about 12 things on it right now, but I think I'm going to  attempt to fill that list, complete it and document it on here. :)
5. I uploaded a new video. A video response to Fraser's video Green Man Festival.

A Night Like This

Caro Emerald - A Night Like This

Some other songs I'm liking at the moment include Golden Blood by Friends Electric and Something in the Water by Brooke Fraser. I also heard Nicola Roberts' song "Beat of My Drum" and I'm not going to lie, after a few listens the chorus was stuck in my head. I think it's a grower. I'll be addicted to it soon.

I recently purchased The Orange Box for xbox since everyone seemed to be going on about Portal and I'd never played it before. I can see why everyone loves it. After playing for a couple of minutes I couldn't stop. It was Lilias Day yesterday (a village fete thing) and instead of going to the park and spending the day with mates, I watched the parade from my living room window before getting back to playing Portal. To be fair, I tried to make plans to go to the park but none of my mates were having it, so playing the xbox was the only suitable alternative. haha. I completed Portal shortly after watching the mid-series finale of Doctor Who (which was SO GOOD) and regretted not buying Portal 2 whilst at Silverburn earlier in the day.

I've still been covering for people at work, so I was in almost every day last week. Luckily for me, I have a couple of days off this week. Long lies then a little bit of preparation for Race For Life me thinks. (Which, by the way, if you'd like to sponsor me, you can do so here. Thank you.)

Jayne is away on her practice Gold Duke of Edinburgh hike so it's been pretty quiet around the house. I miss her annoying face.

Serious Question

Can you please sponsor me in doing Cancer Research UK's Race For Life?

Here is an example of how Cancer Research UK has helped my family:

Sponsor me here: http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/raceforlifeyo/

I have raised some money offline, but right now, I don't know how much. I'll update that when I know.
It would mean SO MUCH to me, please. ♥

Sorry for the lack of posts. My life has basically consisted of only uni, uni work, sleep and VEDA. But now I don't have uni or uni work, except studying for my exams.
I decided today would be my first and only day of "spring break" so I was looking forward to my lovely long lie. It got ruined by Jayne coming into my room at 6am and then again by my papa phoning at 10 something. Yay. After eventually getting up and making some food, I thought I'd go for a bath only to discover there was no hot water. Plus, my mum asked me to clean the bathroom. What a nice relaxing day I've had. Not. The plan for tonight though is to laze about and watch stuff on 4oD and/or a dvd in my bed. Unfortunately I have work tomorrow and Sunday, but my plan is to study like a boss from Sunday onwards since my exams start on the 20th.
There's a gathering tomorrow. Hopefully it'll be good. Looking forward to seeing everyone's faces again. :)

I registered to do Race For Life on June 19th in Edinburgh with my mum, Jayne, Caron, Kirstie and Shannon last night. I'd appreciate it if you could donate/sponsor me here: http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/raceforlifeyo/ It really would mean a hell of a lot to me. Thank you. :)

Song of the moment: Scared To Feel by Lelia Broussard

Tuesday, 15 March 2011

1. I never wear pink clothes or nail polish but today is an exception. :)

2. It snowed all day. It didn't lie though. I really can't stand snow anymore - it just causes chaos.

3. More snow.

4. My plan for today was to get up early and have at least half of my essay on "The Purpose of Vaccination" completed, but being ill wasn't part of my plan. So I had a lovely long lie and then went for a bath. Not feeling much better to be honest. So my essay didn't get done, although I did read over the chapter in the book and I know roughly what I want to say. I also haven't started my Oral Glucose Tolerance Test lab report, but apparently that one won't take me too long. I'm also in the process of researching stuff for my immunology tutorial tomorrow. Fun times.

A few weeks back my dad asked my sister and me why don't we do the Race for Life. Then we basically decided to do it but it'd have to be the Edinburgh one cause Jayne is away on a Duke of Edinburgh hike or something the weekend of the Glasgow one. So today I text a whole bunch of people asking if they'd like to do it with me. I'd be walking it, there's no way I'd manage to run it. So far only two people have replied saying yeah. One said they had no holidays left at work but they'd gladly sponsor me. An excuse? I don't know. Awk well. It's obviously not everybody's cup of tea. I'm excited. It'd be fun. :)
