2012 Recap

I just really like this song.

Things that happened in 2012:

• New Year with Anabelle, Jennifer and Scott
• Airport party with Anabelle and Scott. Scott met someone he knows at Edinburgh airport at 6am. Anabelle bought tea and Scott spilled hot chocolate everywhere
• The whole writing lyrics on train tickets and leaving them places thing started
• The Fault in our Stars
• I gained a Fosters pint glass
• Thursday Things! We had Immunology for 2 hours on a Thursday morning then we’d go do something fun afterwards
• My cousin had an engagement party
• I saw Panic! At the Disco, Justice, The Blackout, General Fiasco x2, Sarah Millican, You Me At Six, Mayday Parade x2, Kids in Glass Houses, McFly, Example, Avenue Q, Blood Brothers, Chris Ramsey, Chicago, Little Comets, The Vaccines
• Ate pizza in Scott’s car on Valentine’s day (which was actually a really nice day so shh)
• Went bowling with the work people, which was definitely an experience
• Got a signed Olly Murs picture
• Went out for Farrelly’s 21st, without Farrelly (he cancelled)
• My parents went on holiday for the 50th birthday and I FILLED the house with balloons
• Went on an adventure on the way to uni and got lost. It was such a bumper car kind of day
• Free spa day for Kirstie’s 21st
• I was NOT okay for the first ~half of the year and finally got fixed at the hospital. I didn’t let on to anybody how bad I really was so people didn’t understand and got mad at me for not being able to do anything/go anywhere. Scott included. It was a horrible time. I proper hated life.

• Newcastle!!! Where I got completely steamin’ for free. 
• Race for Life for which we raised over £200 :)
• I finally passed Immunology
• That last minute Alton Towers trip
• The completely free Coca-Cola Olympic Torch Relay Celebration at George Square with General Fiasco, Emeli Sandé and Eliza Doolittle andgetting to hold the Olympic Torch, twice
• Intimate times with Julie continued 
• Got locked inside Pizza Hut twice in one week
• Lord of the Rings movie marathon at Kirsten’s house
• Scott and I had our one year anniversary
• He came home early from a Scout/work week away and surprised me and it was GREAT
• I got half my hair cut off
• Saw Sesame Street Live and the Circus with Jayne at the Fringe
• Had a brilliant day in Edinburgh at the zoo with Scott and I injured my knee off of a wall. Still got the mark. 
• Lanzarote! 
• Rode a camel
• My dad bought me a sombrero
• Scott’s 21st!
• I gained this picture from B&M
• My 21st and a week of celebration!
• Started back uni full time
• Basically lived in the cinema right up until I started back uni
• Susan’s leaving do

This has been a pretty great year (except for the whole being really ill part for the first bit) but as I got better, the fun times increased. so YAY. Here's hoping 2013 is even better.

The 1975 are a band that's been around for a while under a variety of different names and they are wonderful. I first saw then when I was in 6th year at school when they were playing King Tut's supporting another band (might have been General Fiasco?) and I have been searching for them ever since. It was quite a pain that they kept changing their name and deleting their accounts on every website they were on. They were one of those support bands that despite the fact nobody had heard of them, the crowd were going mental for. Finally they are getting some recognition and airplay on Radio 1. Their new EP, Sex was released on Monday and you should definitely check it out. :)

Meow

I've been doing a lot of tidying and cleaning the past few days. I don't know if I'm bored or just sick of the mess. All this tidying has been accompanied by my marvellous playlist called "Songs to bake or tidy to". 

It's pretty much heavily influenced by too much listening to Smooth Radio and some cheesy pop (either present day or from the 90's) which makes me want to dance (oh, and a few Disney songs thrown in for good measure!) 

My skin has been such a mess recently. No matter what I do it's been breaking out. I don't know if the heat in work is making it worse or what. Going to make an attempt at running on a regular basis since my dad thinks my skin cleared up a bit when I was exercising daily. 

On Friday I made an attempt at Lemon Meringue Cupcakes. The meringue didn't turn out too brilliantly, but it still tasted great. The recipe said if you don't have a cooks blowtorch, you should use your grill at a high temperature for a few seconds. As soon as I told my dad, he ran out to the garage and brought in a normal blowtorch. I wasn't for trying to brown the meringues with that, so I told him  that he could do it. He set the cupcake cases on fire. But we had it all under control so it was okay! No cakes were harmed. They turned out quite nicely.  

I finally finished reading Bridget Jones's Diary last night. I'm not very good at this whole "read-as-many-books-as-possible" thing. I've started The Virgin Suicides now. Really going to try and read this one within a month.

Jayne is working at a charity thing on Friday face-paining. She asked me tonight if she could practise on me so she turned me into a cat. Although, once she'd finished and I asked if I could paint her face, she said no and ran off.

Everything Has It's Way

I really do adore Katie Costello's music. I think The City In Me is my favourite EP from her.
She recently released a new EP which I haven't purchased yet, but it's probably brilliant so you should go and listen to it. It's called "Follow Your Every Beat" and everything I've heard from it so far has been quality. The song in the video above, Everything Has It's Way, is from the new EP.

I recently went on a nice wee trip to Newcastle with some people from uni. It was only for 3 days but it was lovely to get away and not have to even think about work or other issues back home. We met super early so that none of us would be late and miss the train, so we were pretty tired by late afternoon. The girls and I were lame and sat in out pyjamas and watched Countdown and Deal or No Deal drinking tea and didn't go out on the first night unlike the guys. We spent the entire next day in the Metrocentre, which is enormous by the way, before going out to some bars and clubs at night. On our final day, we went to the science centre and spent as long as possibly in there before having to head back to the train station to go home. It was a nice few days and I really hope we do it again. Either back to Newcastle or elsewhere. :) You can see a few pictures from the trip on my 365 project here.

I've been in such a cleaning mood today. I've changed my bedsheets, hoovered, done some washing and hung up and took down clothes from the clothes horses. My desk and chest of drawers are even being cleared! Next, it's the wardrobe. What a mess. Throw some stuff out hopefully.

Sorry I've been a bit crap with blogging recently. I should hopefully be posting more recently now.

Heartbeat

Cannot stop listening.
It's been a while, sorry. I made a new video not too long ago, if you want to check it out.
My parents are away on holiday this week celebrating their 50th birthday, which is great. They never do stuff just the two of them leaving me and Jayne behind. But I don't know what to get them for their birthday and I'm FREAKING OUT. They come back in Monday, so I don't have long. I bought them some stuff already but it's not much. :/ I was at the hospital yesterday too, about the whole not being able to eat thing. I got some bloods taken and have a letter to hand to my doctor so I can get a prescription for some stuff. Back soon for further tests and again in 6 months to monitor my weight and all that. So glad something is finally being done. :)

I'm not dead

I post over at my 365 project every day. :)

I was reading through this month's new look Company magazine and read this:

"Is there any way back to a best friendship gone wrong? I hope so. Because even if you've become completely different in adulthood, nothing can replicate how precious that special friendship is. You need someone who remembers the same stories as you, who'll get the giggles at there mere mention of a name or a place. To be best friends with the girl who knew you, and still loved you back when you got it all wrong and said things like "safe" and "totally ridic" - it's a privilege."

So true. Unfortunately I cannot say that I am still best friends will all the same people I was when I was 13. I wish I was but I've lost and gained throughout the years and Kirstie is the one that's stuck around since the beginning pretty much and I really do appreciate that. The friends I have now are so much better than the ones I had when I was 13 anyway. :)

But I wasn't planning on writing a blog post about the friendships of the 13 year old me, I actually came to share some more music. I do love a bit of KT Tunstall and I'm so glad I went to see her at T in the Park.

Ribbon and Bows!

I am awful at wrapping presents, but hey. I tried to decorate Jayne's presents with bows and ribbons but if you look at them up close (or in daylight and not with fairy lights), it honestly does look like the Ribbon Monster just vomited all over them. Pathetic, hahaha. :)
I think I was more excited about Christmas when no one else was. Today is just a day of struggling for ideas for presents and realising Christmas is too expensive. I'm still excited though, just not as much as I was this time last month. 

I got new tablets at the doctors today. Here's hoping that in eight weeks I won't still feel like I'm going to throw up after meals.

I went to the doctors today since I can't eat without feeling sick and lost a lot of weight in the past couple of weeks. She took some blood to do some tests and gave me a bottle of Peptac. Let's hope it works & they find out if something is up.

I do love receiving things in the post. Today, it was these little boxes from Shanalogic. Another part of my sister's Christmas present has arrived! I have absolutely no idea what to get my dad this year. Or my papa. 
I've also started an application with BUNAC for their Summer Camp USA programme. I'm pretty bored here and want an adventure/something different than the usual routine. I haven't mentioned to my dad yet, but when it's almost done, I'll let him know. I don't know if he'll be encouraging or not. Aw well. 
I'm loving this rainy weather. I even don't mind the dark nights. I just need some fairy lights or something to decorate my room and make it nice and cosy. :)

Goodnight Moon

I'm feeling super Christmasy. Jayne shouted at me for asking if we could go and see Arthur Christmas in the next couple of weeks because "it's not even December yet" and she's not "feeling in the festive spirit." Pfft! We're going anyway. And my mum said she'd come along too. Brilliant. 

I feel like I'm quite prepared this year, so far. I've already bought most of my sister's presents and I have ideas for what to get my mum but I have no idea about my dad yet. 

I was just having a nice wee browse on the Topshop website and I want sooo much. Looks like I'm going on a spending spree soon.

Stuff

So I went out on Thursday night for my birthday and the awful pictures have all appeared on facebook. Brilliant. I'll do a post tomorrow with pictures from that. (: 

I also went out on Saturday night for Susan's birthday with some work people and then went to work on Sunday morning. Jackie was doing the pay slips at work then realised I'd came into work at 8.30am and she was like "And you were okay? Really? Wow. Well done to you. I'm too old for this." ahaha. 

I went to the cinema today with Scott to see 30 Minutes or Less and it wasn't that bad actually. I do love a bit of Jesse Eisenberg.

Shopping trip

After work yesterday, my dad told me that he and my mum were going shopping and asked if I wanted to go with. I had no choice but to go with really since they were going for a birthday present for me and had no idea what to get me. After deciding that I needed a new pair of trainers, we looked about all the shoe shops in the shopping centre but ended up in JD Sports and I once again ended up with a pair of bright blue shoes that I'm not entirely sure about buuuuut that happened last time and they turned out to be a favourite that I really don't want to throw out. These are super comfy but I think they look strange since the toe of the shoe is so rounded like that - my last pair had more of a shape to them. I'll get used to them soon enough. :D

I also got a couple of pairs of shoes (that I promise you look so much nicer than the picture implies) since I don't have a decent pair of flat shoes to wear out. I bought a cheap pair from Primark a while back because I didn't want to ruin my nice heels but you can't really clean those and therefore they look awful now. Awk well, they only cost a couple of pounds. So one pair of these shoes is from my papa and the other wasn't a present since I just needed a pair anyway. :)

After I walked out of Clarks, my dad asked me "What do you want for your birthday?" and once again I had no real answer. So we looked all over the place and ended up in Ortak where this was purchased:

I know I post a lot of Ed Sheeran but man, that boy is talented.

I woke up to hear the thump of the post falling on the floor after being pushed through the letterbox. Amongst the post was a parcel for me which happened to be + - Ed Sheeran's new album. I'm loving it to be honest. :)

I'm also loving being up relatively early and not sleeping my days away. I got new curtains recently and they aren't as thick as my old ones so light shines through. Now that we are heading into the darker nights, it's okay but in the mornings it is still a little bright. Therefore my room is too light to lie in until ridiculous times. Usually, when working a late shift, I'd be dragging myself out of bed around 12.30pm rushing about to be picked up for 2pm.
I went into Glasgow yesterday with Kirsten for a wee catch up and shopping trip. My dad asked me to try and find something for my birthday, but I didn't really see much (or look really). Well, he told me to look in the pound shops to see what I can spend that pound he's giving me on. Haha!  Awk, I rarely get surprises on birthdays or at Christmas any more but here's hoping I get one this year. :)

I watched 9 last night with Jayne. I didn't really feel like watching it at the start but since I gave Jayne the option of which film to watch, I couldn't really argue about it. I'm quite glad she forced me to watch it, it was good. Quite sad at the end though. But still. Afterwards I watched Bridget Jones's Diary since I recently bought it on DVD. I felt the urge to watch it a while back but I only have it on VHS and I don't have a working video player. Booo.

The rest of my day will include listening to + on repeat, reading some more Harry Potter and working until 9pm. Fun fun. I hope you're having a lovely Friday. :)

People and Things

Amy, I - Jack's Mannequin

I'm super excited for the new Jack's Mannequin album, People and Things, which will be out in October. I watched the album trailer a few days ago which talks about pretty much the whole story of  Andrew McMahon. This band is one of my favourites. I say it all the time, but it's true. I can easily listen to Everything in Transit or The Glass Passenger and get lost in it and ignore the world. My favourite songs from those albums include Swim, which is just one of the most inspiring songs ever, in my opinion.

Today's been a nice lazy day. I've missed just not doing anything. I had a long lie, which was rudly interrupted by the post man delivering Jayne's Llama's With Hats t-shirt. Then I went for a lovely long bath before catching up with some YouTube subscriptions. 

Some people keep texting me wanting to hang out but just don't get the hints that I don't want to. Clingy people are clingy. 

The weather's pretty awful today. I like it. :) I'm really hoping it makes a couple of folk not go to tae kwon do tonight since I can't be bothered with them, but hey. 

The rest of my day will include tidying my room and relaxing in bed with a movie and some ice cream. Fun Fun. I hope your day is just as fun and relaxing as mine. :)
